City of Syracuse and Onondaga County Homeless and Eviction Prevention

(Program)

Provides direct financial assistance to individuals and families at imminent risk of facing eviction and becoming homeless as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Assistance is provided through 3 different funding channels - CDBG-CV, ESG-CV (city), ESG-CV (county). Financial aid available for rent, utility, and/or security deposit assistance.

Eligibility:

CDBG-CV Homeless and Eviction Prevention:
• City of Syracuse residents
• Income: 80% Area Median Income or below
• Follow up case management, not required but available as needed through Catholic Charities

ESG-CV Homeless and Eviction Prevention (city):
• City of Syracuse residents
• Income: 50% Area Median Income or below
• Imminently at risk of homelessness
• Follow up case management for 6 months required through Salvation Army or Catholic Charities

ESG-CV Homeless and Eviction Prevention (county):
• Onondaga County residents not living in the City of Syracuse
• Income: 50% Area Median Income or below
• Imminently at risk of homelessness
• Follow up case management for 6 months required through DSS

Application Process: Call Department of Social Services at 315-435-2700 and select rental assistance prompt

Required Documentation:
• Proof of income
• Proof of financial status (i.e. job loss or reduced hours/furlough due to COVID-19
• Proof of housing crisis, due to COVID-19
